LoveFilm's Top 20 Actresses Under 30
August 9th 2009 16:19
LoveFilm (who they hell are they?) concocted a list of the top 20 actresses under 30 (because obviously, who wants to see a website with a bunch of photos of women over 30? ::eye roll:
. Here are some things I found interesting:
Anne Hathaway is number 1. Yup, I've got to admit, that for all the ridiculous waspy princess films she did, she proved is acting chops too in films like Brokeback Mountain and Rachel Getting Married. I'll admit, I'm hoping that she fits in with the eccentric crowd of Burton, Depp and Bonham Carter in Alice in Wonderland.
Ellen Page made the list at number 6! Yay! At first I was disappointed she wasn't higher on the list, but then I realized that they're right, she hasn't been seen or heard from since Juno. I'm hoping this works in favor when Whip It and Inception come out. She hasn't been over exposed by the media (yet?) and she could be a breath of fresh air among the throngs of young starlets who are dying for a taste of fame...
such as Megan Fox. She made number 16. Really?! They even admit, that she doesn't have any acting chops--or has yet to prove them--but they put her on the list of Top ACTRESSES?! I don't understand. Maybe the list makers don't even know what they meant. (Even crazier she ranked number 7 last year! WTF?!) If she hasn't proven her acting ability, how can she be on a list for acting well? Oh because she's female, and as long as she's hot, she should be on everyone's Top Ten lists. Ick.
Alice Braga is number 15. She was the very cool girlfriend in City of God. I definitely, hope she can break into Hollywood in full force. She's also the only person of color on this list. Um... note to LoveFilm, and Hollywood, the world is getting a little less white, could you please make and review films to match this? Thank you.
Missing from this list--Emma Watson! As the Harry Potter heroine, I am becoming more and more impressed by who she is as a person (or at least her media persona). She seems intelligent, thoughtful and most importantly, appreciative and not exploitative of her fame, which many young starlets currently out there cannot say. I think she actually cares about acting. Yay!
